Re: bv
As the saying goes, "Back in the day..." but 'my day' was in the late 1960's, early 70's. I did all of my high school and then college homework with the radio in the background. I lived in western central Michigan but our station of choice was WLS for a long time and then WCFL. WLS fired 'America's DJ' 'Super Jock' Larry Lujack ( Uncle Larr) and Tommy Edwards and 'Super CFL' picked them up. Lujack worked the morning shift and 'Lil Tommy" did the 9-2 shift but they overlapped about 45 minutes and those guys were comedic gold together. They did this thing called "Animal Stories" and if I was driving somewhere, I had to pull over on the edge of the road so I didn't laugh myself right into an accident. Anyway, my habit of writing while listening continues.
I never used a tape recorder. I always kept a pad of paper near my bed, my desk at home, and in my car. With that said, I need my peace and quiet to write. I have this thing where I slide into my characters and story line and it seems that my fingers would just take off and write. There are times when I stop to read what I've written and I sometimes surprise myself. It works for me. Your mileage may vary!
Thanks for reading!
