I like to sing if the song is familiar and one I like. I have a very limited range though so often can only sing the middle range, no high or low notes which is a bit exasperating.

Some lyrics I belt with gusto, others I whisper sing
but I'm no singer, lol.
However, I don't care as I'm not trying to please an audience, just me. Yes, tone changes with mood; feeling determined and gutsy is louder and more strongly enunciated words, feeling softer is lower and more drawn out.
