Audible.com is set up so you can listen on your computer, tablet or smart phone. I began years ago, playing self help and motivational books while I cleaned or when I couldn't sleep, at the time all I had was a desktop computer. Today, I have a laptop, a tablet (a gift from my daughter) and a smart phone. It makes mundane chores much more enjoyable.

You're a joy to read, and as an old friend I wish you'd take life a little easier. Would you know how a person would get to be a 'reader' of books for whomever needs such a person? I'd love to do that.

I just stick to my books. There is a new shop in town crammed with second hand books for really cheap and it our favorite place in town. Plus she bought some of our books too. Please slow a little and take some time for you. Smelling the Roses is so important.

Very interesting! I have never listened to an audio book. For one thing I don't have an i-pod, since I don't want to join the Church of Apple, LOL, but I'm sure there are other devices out there. I might give it a try, as long as a book I want read in the first place is available in audio...And I certainly hope you'll find ways to lighten the load a bit...

The thing I've always loved about reading was the escape...
If my little world was fractious or boring, I could head for parts unknown in the pages. Kind of gives me another perspective to balance against what the folks in my little niche think about life and how to live it.

It does help to slip into different worlds and still clutch the chair rests knowing one is not really in danger or etc. Be happy

I can see that you love to read, me too. I have always read from childhood to present. There is nothing that outbeast reading, it takes you into a whole new, and different world. I tried, however, I was only able to teach my oldest son of 3 sons the love and joy of reading. They do not know what they are missing.

Real books can never be replaced by electronic readers
though if you're traveling, they are good for bringing a big library along!
