Re: TAPS
Me too! I do believe he was that. Just the bits and pieces weave a web of interest for me...

Re: Nautikos
Thanks! Funny, I had Venice on my mind today. Yes, he sure does sound like that, but this was my maternal grandfather, not my Italian side. He was partly Polish, and was said be part Gypsy. Never knew him, the family was very illusive. A second cousin had hired an investigator, and still was unable to get too much background info! Now it is getting easier to trace them, especially if one speaks Polish...LOL!

Re: Kabu
You've hit it on the head with your assessment of the man, I feel. His is a story I would love to unravel. I am thrilled that you liked this poem. It means so much to hear your opinion, Sister Soul, Sister Spirit. Thank you.

Re: C_C_T
Yes, one of his jobs was that of detective. He must have had a soft spot, for he married my widowed grandmother, who had 5 children under 10, and raised them, as they say, and they then had 6 children of their own. She was known for her kindness and gentle ways. I never knew either of them.

You have wowed me yet again and I am thrilled with this poem. It is dark and mysterious and of a man of few words I feel. One with a job to do and he did it. But your writing is very special sweet Sister Soul.

I take it that Grandfather was a enforcement Office in a rather demanding role. Your dear Grandmother was a flowery person obviously. I suppose the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. Nice imagery and very interesting.

Re: FSI
You imagine correctly. Actually, he had many - stories. Looking at documents on which he provided info, he was somehow able to be born in four different places... And that's just for a start! LOL!

Re: Katray2
Thanks, I didn't plan it to be that, but I do believe it turned out that way. They write themselves, to a degree. This was an attempt at the style of poem where the first line repeats as the second line of the second stanza, and then is the third line of the third stanza, finishing as the fourth line of the fourth and final stanza; a bit of a quatrain. :) With free form, for me, thoughts flow much more easily.

Okay, MS R. Presta, you got me hooked
just spent the last hour reading all of your entries...you probably made at least an additional 43 cents now. Loved so many of them, I thought I would just say well done here.
