Re: Lanetay
This could be read as a metaphor, indeed. Though Spring isn't magic in the looks department...

Re: shobana
Thank you, shobana. Isn't it something that we feel those things?

Absolutely precious. Yes I feel those emotions of the petals and leaves once adorned and loved for their beauty and the emotions that stirred at its loss.

Re: Re: Re: Aba
How true you speak. That is, after all, part of the innate humanity in each of us. And for that, for our humanity as something above our most base level, I am glad. Thank you.

Re: Re: Aba
That you did not read Hopkins's poem before, I could well see. But then pathos is pathos, after all. And there we are all one, I suppose.

Re: Kabu
How nice she sang. So did my mom. Thank you, and I hope you can begin a winter garden, indoors, if you must, S. Sister.

Very nice, but you've given me an earworm! I can't get rid of the tune to Thomas Moore's 'Tis the Last Rose of Summer...

I have cried over plants and trees, too. Something almost sad
when the new season clears away the one color for the next

my Mother used to sing an old song. "Tis the last Rose of Summer' unfortunately her lovely voice had already " Gone with the Wind"
But your poem is lovely and I feel for my garden as it is closing down for the Winter months.

And what an exceptionally beatiful compliment. I do see the similarity, but had not read it before I wrote this. Pathos is pathos, I suppose... Thanks you, dear Aba.

I guess if roses had feeling RP. They would probably feel how you described the year of the rose in your interesting poem. I would wheel you a barrowful of compost if you were nearer.

Bravo, dearest
What an exceptionally beautiful poem! Reminds me of "Margaret, are you grieving/Over Goldengrove unleaving?", the first line of G.M. Hopkins' poem, from 'Spring and Fall. This was composed by him while walking to catch a train for Liverpool, where he imagines a young girl Margaret who, upon seeing the golden autumnal leaves falling off the trees at Goldengrove where she came to play, is as sad for them as if they had been human. Your ideas are so matching in pathos with that of Hopkins's. Kudos, and very well done!
