Re: GoldenMean
Thank you for your comments, GoldenMean. I do appreciate them, and am pleased you can relate to the poem. I am sorry about your father, but you are lucky to still have your mother at 90. Secondly, regarding this poem, if I may quote Balzac: "Love is the poetry of the senses." One feels love, one feels art; one thinks philosophy, which you do quite well. Cheers, and thank you for stopping by!!!

RPresta
I have two comments. First, I can relate to this poem, because of my father who died at 87, and my mother who struggles on alone at 90. She is not alone, but she feels that way, because of the generational gap, a chasm really, that does separate us when we live a long time. You have captured some of that feeling with this poem.
Second, I have always admired poets, and I tried poetry myself for a while, but poetry is a very difficult and somewhat inefficient form of communication..... which is evidenced by your attempt to explain your poem with a second post. I think I will stick with philosophy. Cheers!!!

Re: Nautikos
That's a high compliment you have given me, Naut. I love Dylan Thomas' art (I can't call it work at that level). Thank you.

RP
A powerful poem, that has some of the spirit of Dylan Thomas' 'Do not go gentle into that good night'...

Dear Presta
i guess I could figure that out, especially by your use of the word 'feral' ... an escape from captivity. It also beautifully connects with your conclusion, 'we are until we aren't'. You simply delight all of us, a 'patient guru' in your own right.

The beauty of poetry dear S. Sister is interpretation. I have written poetry and someone gives a totally diferent...perhaps a better...
than what I was trying to write. I always find something very special in what you write.

Re: C_C_T
No, CC, tis I who feels a sense of frustration when my poem's intent is not clear to the reader. Thank you very much. I appreciate your comments and feedback, and will work on better conveying content and POV (point of view).

I like the poem RP. I suppose one can love someone just because it happens.
Physical awareness motivates, but sadly does not always achieve what one thinks it should. It is all too simple really. Once everyone was content or endured what happened
.
