Re:
I'm sure you're right about that, FSI - summer brings fun, mayhem and killer clowns from outer space, or some such...

I'm sure no one is offended , RPresta! Not everyone is a blithering chicken like I am, either!

Re:
I'm just unsettled by all of that stuff. Clowns and dolls. Once I had to spend the night in a room with, like, 100 plastic dolls. I don't think I've ever been the same since...

Re:
Well, the song could have been worse, BC -- what if I had you humming something like Billy Don't Be a hero?" Worse, what if a clown sang it?

No offense to anyone, but I'm not at all comfy around clowns; not the ones I saw at the circus when I was a child, not Clarabelle on Howdy Dooty, especially not that one, and not the ones creeping out of the shrubs starting back at Halloween time. Nope, and I've never even watched The Exorcist, for that matter! Loved your post; and your humor. Thank you.
(Note no clown emoji...)

My daughter still displays her clown collection from her childhood! You are one funny writer! I liked the line that Taps cited, too! sam

I loved this post. I especially loved this sentence, "Now that I think about it, I was pretty nervous throughout the disco era, too." You are so funny.

Clowns never bothered me. My mother, YEARS ago, hand-sewed a beautiful clown costume for me for Halloween. Maybe that why - it's a plesant memory.

We have a 3 ft clown in our kitchen...no not me y' silly nut...a porcelain statue. I don't much like it but Wiley does. Come stay and you can have it standing in your room if you like. NO? Oh OK.

Clowns have never scared me. I was and am fine around them...I had forgotten about those creepy clown sightings. I guess we will start seeing more of them once summer comes about.

I used to love clowns until I read it and then saw the movie...Tim Curry and the make up people did a great job on that one.
I wouldn't risk it...too many unhappy people around the usa....you wouldn't want to be the one they take out their frustrations on

omg clowns creep me out... I have never found them to be remotely entertaining. Whoever came up with the idea to paint a fake smile on a full grown man? Even as a kid, I think I knew he wasn't really happy. I think my fear is rooted in the Joker from Batman... but I can't be sure.
Love a good practical joke though! And thanks for the song that will be stuck in my head all day...
