My nephew's 4-pawed buddy just passed on. How ironic!

Re: adnor
Thank you, adnor! He was so special. He was just an unbelievable dog, boxhead Lab. So kind and gentle, the kids put their tennies on him and he just layed there, and the one and only time a person came to the door I didn't like, a particular realtor, and our guy let out this low growl the entire time the man was at the door! He knew! He just knew something wasn't right! That's how in tune and smart he was! Maybe one day we'll get another doggie.

Re: Nautikos
I'm sorry, Naut, for the sadness and for reminding you of it. No, one never does forget our family members who have passed away, be they human or not. Now, it's been many years since another doggie, 'my' Sampson, the GSD, died. And I still miss him, but can't help but laugh when I think of how silly he was.

Re: C_C_T
Thank you, CC. Yes, there are people who feel as you do. This happened several years ago.

This really touched me...I was reminded of the moments my own doggies died, the sadness and the tears. One never forgets them, just as one never forgets the human members of the family who have passed away...

A lovely looking dog. I could never have another after mine died. A beautiful poem appears to have been written at the time of pain.

It is incredibly difficul to lose a pet. They are truly a part of the family...I would like to express my condolences.

Aba dear brother
Thank you. It was several years ago. It was shocking because he was so young and had been pronounced healthy when we first adopted him. Now it has been many years since Sam, my GSD also passed on. But were I to tell a story about him, there would be humor.

Aw dear sis. So very sad!
i felt the sadness of the boy passing away very intensely in just two human years. A classic tribute to a very dear loved one. Your last line was so touching and poignant 'good bye, but why did you have to die'. It will be etched in my memory for good.
