Re: volunteering
Hello MOEC! Volunteering at a nursing home is great. They need someone. Some of the elderly lost all their family and friends. They are very talkative and great historian. Glad you like it. Thanks.

Re: volunteering
Hello GypsyButterflyCA! I like kids too! NO, I don't follow any curriculum. I read, do dittors, flashcards, with my studnt. I try to change what we did last week just a little. I am working very hard on her comprehension. Sometimes, she remembers but doesn't retain. She won't read for a while. Her sister wants her to read and work with money. I really don't think I will get her their. She is mentally challenged. I am thinking about going into teaching English as a second language. I am sorry to hear about your health I hope you feel better soon.

I'm sure this uplifts & enriches you both. I volunteer with the kitties at the local shelter. I want to do more there, but, health issues have made it difficult. I'd also like to get involved with opportunities pertaining to kids, seniors, the disabled & homeless. Including, adult literacy, as you're doing. Do you have to follow a curriculum or do you just teach by your own style?

Welcome to Blogit. How nice that you are volunteering to teach at the library. Often potential employers look at volunteer work in a positive light, and it becomes the decision-maker when it comes to hiring people, so good luck.
