How Can We Win?
We do have a lot to deal with if we're taking on terrorism as a whole. Will our intelligence community track everyone they suspect of having a motive to strike against the free world? This will be a never-ending battle with no concrete outcome, in my opinion. How can we know we've gotten everyone who might possibly be involved in terrorist activity? We can't win this one...

Why doesn't it occur to anyone we're doing exactly what Osama & Co want us to?

Let's invade Iraq!!! Rah rah rah rah. Way to go, terrific, like it's some frigging Denver Broncos football game. Liberate Iraq, there is not a soul on earth who can't see the goodness and wisdom in but drop thousands of bombs to get one tyrant and two sons. That makes no sense at all unless you're Osama Bin Laden and looking for a uniting cause, one that will rally his Muslims against the US. Now they really do hate us, with a vengeance.

Then, when Iraq is liberated, which mercifully it will be one way or another, we have a very very long shopping list of other despotic regimes to deal with. It's going to be a very very very long war.

Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself
BigV, you said it clearly, succinctly, and with incredible clarity. Thank you!

Look Again
America already has a big red bulls eye on its' chest. It was painted after years of tolerance and being slow to anger. Never before has the cost of doing nothing been so high. With the spread of nuclear weapons, you must look at the terrorist leaders such as Saddam in a new light. Sadly, we learned the hard way that oceans no longer protect us.

Those of you who feel if we just back off and back away simply do not understand the mindset of these peoples. They hate us and they see our lack of action as weakness. This war did not start September 11th for it was already in full bloom that day. We forget the USS Cole... we forget the January 1993 WTC bombings... we forget the 1986 ordeal with Libya... we forget the Lockerbie incident... we forget the Iran ordeal (which makes me wonder why in the world we would EVER listen to Jimmy Carter? He lead us into a monster depression (do you remember 22% INFLATION?) and made us the door mat of every fourth rate country in the world.) The modern terrorist got started with hi-jackers back in the early 1970's.

Higher technology has led to a different style of enemy. This effort has been very carefully played out so far with minimum losses and maximum damage to the leaders of Iraq. The 'anti-Bush' people... they aren't anti-war... they are anti-Bush... would have led you to believe this was going to be a slaughter of Iraqi innocents and US service people. At this point in time, they are wrong... just like back in 1991 when they predicted US losses in the TENS of thousands. It appears the US is taking every caution to make the leadership pay for their sins and not the people of the country. Watch carefully when this is over. The Iraqi people will dance with joy for they will have been given their freedom.

We've Stuck our Hand in a Hornet's Nest

While I do support our troops, I think this war is a huge mistake. Suppose we do wipe out the leader of this evil empire? There will always be a new leader, there will always be a new empire. We are enraging people all across the globe and I feel as though America has a bright red target painted over its heart.

The Wrong Side
For the first time in my life, I feel the United States is on the wrong side of a conflict. This is not to say that I don't agree we have problems with Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, and others who would suppress the freedoms we hold so dear. I find myself disagreeing with our methods in this situation and I pray for us all...especially the troops on the front lines at this moment...

You may be right that the President carefully considered his actions and waited as long as he felt he could. I don't know what's in his mind and heart.

However sincere the President may have been, I believe attacking Iraq was a mistake. I believe there is always a way to resolve a conflict without war and I wish the President had looked harder for one.

Amen
I second that emotion. God protect us all and provide forwardness of sight to our President and his advisors and protect our fighting service people with His broad hands. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
