How fascinating!
I find it all fascinating. It's just a little additional entertainment when people start to discuss the sites "interesting" folks. I'm always anxious to get back to the site to see what is being said about who and who did what again!

Another Weak One
Reading posts we know to be negative and unpleasant is much like slowing down to see what's happening near the scene of an accident -- it's an unfortunate human weakness to want to know everything that's happening in the world. We can only try our best to ignore what disturbs us, or move on as quickly as possible so as not to give them the satisfaction of wasting our time.
Hang in there!

Some writing websites have "block lists"
On Epinions, I believe it's called a Web of Distrust or something similar. The software exists to help us do that - whether Shaycom can afford to put it in is another matter. You have to have the manpower to maintain it and the will to do it. But theoretically it's possible.

Same here...
It's morbid curiosity. We know we shouldn't look, but we just can't help ourselves. Happens to me all the time. But there are some authors here who I absolutely will not read because they have no class, no self-control, etc.
Like BigV mentioned, although we do have the 1st ammendment, I am very often turned off by foul language. I mean I swear...and if I cannot find any other word that gets a certain point across, I'll use a "bad" word, but I never, ever use the "F" word in my posts here because I know that will offend many, many people. Even when I do use some of the other words, I try to "soften" them somehow.
Then there are the flamers...I HATE those folks. They have no respect for others...and more than likely, no respect for themselves.
Despite all that, though, there are still certain blogs I know I never, ever like, but still read on occasion.

IF WHAT YOU DESCRIBE IS AN AFFLICTION I'M SICK TOO
I vow I will not read some of the posts that experience has taught me are not worth my time nor my pennies. I want to help those who edify me advance. I mean we all chat now and again, but it distresses me to see the top ten blogs all chatting. I resist, I resist, I resist, I fold. The titles capture me and I "fold" because I want to be fair. But I'm getting stronger.
