and yet I who have travelled so far seen so much of this wonderful world he best and her worst, I long in my heart to go home to Australia to die. To see my beautiful land once more. My ashes will go into the Pacific when I am dead and I know they will reach Australia eventually.

.....It displeases me to see/hear an ungallant swine of a husband speaking or acting in a harsh or complaining manner to an aged wife who has stuck it out throughout the years.

Did he find a new experience or are we left to wonder? No doubt travel on the sea was dangerous in those days. The struggle to search for the unknown and to deal with imagination
