Re: CCT
A terrible tragedy. Last year, yes, the smoke drifted and drifted. There was even more smoke this time. But at some point one may say to oneself, why? Why did this happen?

Re: FSI
My thoughts exactly! I never, ever thought it would happen here and I never thought it would come to this. I still can't believe what I see. So sad. So tragic. So - awful.

Re: Sherri
It was shocking and sickening to watch. In the Palisades there were about 5000 homes gone and in Altadena/Pasadena about 7000 structures and in another town more yet. This is something so unfathomable one can only try to recall how it all began and wonder. Did this really happen, I say?

Re: Kabu
Thank you. It is something that is just beyond what one would expect to see happen anywhere. So sad.

Re: CCT
Thank you for reading it again. Some are complacent but others care about the reasons. There will be various versions in people's collective memories of why happened and why. I of course am not in a position to know all of the facts but still, I have my own personal thoughts. And yes, here in this country we too have people who live in flood areas and just keep rebuilding. To them it is home. But here, in cities and towns, one would expect to be able to get fire insurance without too much worry. It is so heartbreaking to see such loss. We had often looked at houses in some of those areas years ago. We never bought one thankfully.

Re: Sea_Gypsy....
To see it unfold was surreal. One's brain cannot compute what the eye is observing. There have been individually beautiful stories of humanity rising that unfolded but it is a scar that will be many, many years healing. And still I wonder, could we have done better? Heartbreaking and terribly sad.

Aba Brother
It will be years for some and never for others to return to the place where they once lived. It is a scene of utter destruction and we hope and pray for all who have suffered from the fires. May someone be sure it never happens again. It is heartbreaking to me to see and I wonder if maybe, just maybe, it could have been stopped before it all got so bad.

Aba Brother
Things are getting more stable here but it takes a lot. I hope to be able to get back here soon. I will write more later. Thank you for asking and for caring. I appreciate it. Hubby is doing better buy he has had such a long battle with so many things wrong. It has left me a little tired by the end of each day. The best to you and your family also, dear Aba. 😍🙏

I have to read your poem again it is something that really expresses the hurt and the tragedy. Perhaps we as humans are too complacent when it comes the reasons for such an event . We have the same situation in a minor way planning for houses on ground that floods at times. Who would want to insure them? 🌺

Sis Sea,
The horrid fires “nearing in” at Altadena that engulfed so many houses and left thousands devastated was a very painful scene. Your poem truly catches realistically a very sad event that’ll be difficult to wipe out from peoples’ memory.

Terrible tragedy , such destruction is not something one can imagine. It is like the world is going mad. I remember last year that the smoke drifted for miles. Very painful.🦋

Re: FSi
No one ever thought, apparently. We don’t think the unthinkable, I guess. And it’s not over yet. So sad.

Re: Sherri
Thanks for reading. Right now about ten thousand residences are gone. There is a rental shortage already so where can these folks go. Not all of them are rich, as you know. Altadena residents are certainly going to suffer. 🙏

It is sickening to watch. I saw one clip where they showed more than 500 homes burned to the ground, wiping out an entire Palisades neighborhood and leaving an image similar to a war zone. All we can do is pray they get the fires under control before the entire southern half of Cali becomes nothing but a memory. 🙏
