Re: Kabu,

There are so many ways to be different, many of them connected with rejecting a life that seems too ordered and bland, and also with creativity and imagination.

Re: Sherri G

Your daughter was lucky to get an early diagnosis and have a mother who worked with her to deal with it. I agree, it isn't the end of the world, it's a situation, part of human experience, that shapes a life.

I discovered as an adult just living my life with my own family, that most of my first cousins with children, if they were ever somewhat difficult to handle, "You are just like Aunty Helen." It hurt! made me angry! yes I was a difficult child and teenager at times. I was different, Not ADHD but different. I think it was mainly because I have this need to read and to write! Perhaps it is why I have found my soul mates here in dear old blogit!

ADHD is a rough journey to live, but it isn't the end of the world. Our oldest daughter was diagnosed with ADHD in grade school. I did not agree with the prescribed treatment from the doctor which back in those days was a daily dose of Ritalin, so I executed a diet plan that helped her greatly. No foods with red dye, limited processed foods, and sugary treats. I fed her plenty of vegetables, which she still eats, and a few other low-carb food choices. She eventually outgrew the worst of it and functions, graduated from high school, and today holds a good-paying job. Regular smile

Re: Pat B,

Today I heard about 'time blindness.' It's that thing where you can't really see things coming like time limits until they are right upon you. It looks like procrastination, but it isn't about just choosing to put things off, it's that they haven't significantly entered your world until they are too darn close!

We are who we are, and we could do a lot worse than to have some ADHD. It seems to me that most creative folks have a tendency to be distracted at times, to get off the subject, and to let their mind wander when things get boring.  It could be worse. We could be completely pedantic and dull.
