Re: CCT
When my mind starts cataloging all my bad choices, it helps shut them down to remind them that it took courage enough to take the risks however they ended up.

Well I kick ass.I try to think of something I will do as I always feel a tiny bit depressed when I wake. I begin to think of the horrible things I have done in my life and what I should have done differently, but then I just shake it off and think and think how it could have been worse and then think, 'Still alive' I guess I can avoid all the ------- thrown at me. 😊

It sure does sound like we’re on the same wavelength. Crocheting is a challenge for me because I am lleft-handed. I did learn once and should refresh my memory on it. i may have read the “Eleanor” book. She is one of my most favorite historical persons. I may re-read or read. The West Wing sounds like a good pick to watch. Enjoy your day.

Re: Sea Gypsy
Sounds like you and I are on a similar wavelength! I just finished another crocheted shawl/wrap, and started a book picked up at a local used-book store: Eleanor of Aquitaine and The Four Kings. I'm also re-watching The West Wing and The Newsroom.

Re: Kabu,
The world is moving on towards spring while you're dealing with so much! It sounds as if you could use the time to stay in bed for a while, and bring in someone else qualified to look after both Jim and you until you've recouped some energy! You don't have to do it all alone, sweet thing!

Re: TAPS
That's a wonderful solution! While my voice might only add to the neighbors' stress at this point, I can order up any music I'm in the mood for with 'Alexa.' I used to clean house to the soundtrack from CONAN THE BARBARIAN, and for a while now I've listened to Howard Shore's score for THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Patrick Ball's harp music is a lovely one, too.

Re: Sherri G
You are truly not alone! I'm loving the suggestions offered up by others here which come down to creating at least some space apart from all the bludgeons of life, like music and making things. Even taking a couple of hours to change where your head's at by watching a silly movie or reading a book that transports you--like a mini-vacation from reality--can be a renewal.

You have great ways to counter your stressors. For me, if I can, any creative little thing such as cooking something different, is good. Music is good. Historical research is good. And not internalizing or obsessing over politics too much helps. I started knitting a blanket. That’s fun. And I am always overly busy caring for an unwell hubby.

Re: Kabu
I certainly empathize with you. That’s been my same experience and my life for many months now. I feel sure Jim will recover and your care will help him. Take care and God bless.

actually after all the visiting the hospital and I haven't even really processed the helplessness of watching Jim on the edge of death, and coming back to me, I don't have energy to feel anything else but to focus just on him and then on myself. I am tired very very tired.

.....My stress counter-measure is and always has been to go around singing. What is causing the stress guides my choice in what I am singing.

Since two weeks after John's and my 60th birthday in late October, I have been feeling nothing but stress. From the death of his mother two weeks later, my mother's health issues, our two youngest daughters having marital and financial issues, an attack on our bank account, my health issues, our youngest daughter totalling the car we bought her, my uncle passing a few weeks ago, and the political nightmare we are all living with, stress has become my constant companion. From what I hear and read, I am not alone. Most everyone is feeling the weight of stress. A peaceful calm would be really nice about now.
