Re: Kabu,

That's quite a respectable age for any cat, he knows what he knows and loves what he loves! And you don't have to send him to college! Cat faceStar

Re: Sherri G

Sadly, his cats are entering the age zone where vet bills tend to rise. Sokka is 13, Astrid is 14 or 15. He's struggling with it, as we have all done at some point. He is philosophical about it--knew when he adopted them that these times would come.

Re: Pat B,

So many more treatable ailments, too, for dogs and cats. Cats are especially susceptible to bird flu, usually die from it. Sokka's complaint is a urinary tract blockage so once it's corrected, should not be a chronic thing. But holy cow, it's expensive!

As a grandparent of many feline fur babies, I understand Sokka being an important member of Charlie's family.  Just like a child, they depend on us for their love and care, and Charlie is an awesome pet parent. Regular smile

Big difference these days when it comes to having a dog. Very costly now, compared to the 60s. In our town there were no leash laws, you got them a rabies shot when you got their license, and after that it was mostly for injuries. They could roam the neighborhood, like the kids did then, and only came home at dinner time. Now there's insurance and much more medical attention - costs almost as much as raising a child, and no tax deduction.
