You both are probably right. It took a lot of forgiving myself for me to be able to forgive my mother. Many people don't or can't believe what she did to us kids... and me in particular... but as the final words in that chapter read:
It was weeks before the physical pain faded.
It was months—almost a year—before the emotional wounds scabbed over.
The scars? Sixty years later, they were still there.

I don't think you would. You may have felt like doing it. At least you forgave her in the end.
We all have uncommitted sins and have to forgive ourselves eventually.

I'm glad you didn't kill your mother, even though she may have deserved it. You have become a good guy, a productive and creative person and a loving husband through your own strength of character. Does it get better than that? If so, I don't know how. Peace.
