Re: Re: Aba Brother

The deeper you go, the more interesting it gets. I’m glad that you are now researching the points of your concerns in Browning’s poems. Him, I hold in great esteem, and the expressive way of his writing in dramatic monologue. The Grammarian’s Funeral and Andrea del Sarto are my favourite, Thanks a lot to find you again in my blog after a long awaited gap. Hope your hubby is doing better now. He is in my daily prayers. 🪭🌷❤️🥸

Re: C C T,

The Duke, (Ferrara, was 24 in 1558 when he married the 13 yr. old Lucrezia as he thought her to be unfaithful to him. He is a controlling and entitled aristocrat who embodies toxic masculinity which threatens his sense of power and control, leading to his eventual decision to have her killed. It appears that the story must have been historically true.

Re: Thank you dear Sis,

You have such a fine understanding which comes from the depth of your heart.

Re: Kabu ma’am,

Yes, it may perhaps be  a boon to be murdered rather than face the Duke’s sadistic torture.

Re: Aba Brother

Please excuse my typos. After giving this more thought, I am looking at the poem, Browning, the times and the circumstances in a new light. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to study Browning, the Duke and Lucrezia in greater detail. An interesting mental exercise. ❌⭕️🌹😀

Well it appears to me that that there were a lot of rather cruel thoughts emanating from the poet. If the details in the poem is in fact true, then there was no justice at that time.

A fine example of Browning’s gifts. One can’t help but feel the emotion of the victims when reading what you fave posted. A painful life that Duke caused for so many. Kudos, deaf Brother Ava. 🌹❌⭕️😀

What a terrible tragedy. a girl of 16 which I know was not abnormal back when, but then to see bleak years ahead for oneself until all joy and laughter and fun was washed from her soul; maybe her murder wasn't the worst that could have happened to her.
