I'm thinking of another one that was moved by BN

I think it was one of Wordking's - he had placed it in the MA category deliberately (likely because he wanted to speak frankly about something), but the blog got moved out of MA, I believe into Everything Else. It didn't have any sexual content, mind you - it's just that there are some nonsexual topics that belong in the MA area as well. But, if it isn't X-rated pornography, they move it out of MA into Romance/Sex or some other category. MA ought to be for violent war stories and other posts that don't necessarily contain porn, but don't belong where little ones can see, either. There ought to be a more consistent policy in that regard, too. (I remember one called Confessions of a Sex Slave or something a couple months ago - that was pulled completely by the powers that be.)

I've been thinking a lot about Claudette...

I don't know where to start.  There's so much about her that has been going through my mind.  In a way, I am angered by her.  In another way, I feel sorry for her.  And in yet another way, I agree with her.

I have to admit that I find it next to impossible to understand her writing.  And I admit that my morbid curiosity gets the better of me and makes me click on her posts.  I took a look at my reading summary (and I urge everyone to do the same) and noticed that Claudette was in the top five of the folks my money is going to.  I was flabergasted (I just know I spelled that incorrectly).  I couldn't believe I had clicked her stuff so much.

But, Claudette has made one point that pertains to me as well.  Her point is that the Blogging Network "censors" her by moving her blogs to various categories without her consent.  Now, I do not believe the BN censors us--at least not that I have seen.  But they have moved one of my own blogs.

I have a blog called Scared Little Wanna-Be Nympho.  Basically it is a journal of my struggle with intimacy, specifically sex.  When I first started the blog I had put it in the Romance category because I didn't plan on giving graphic details.  I didn't plan on using nasty language.  But lo and behold, the network moved my blog to Mature Audiences.  Yet there are sex advice columns which give detailed info on finding the "G-Spot" and trying different positions in the Romance category.

So, on the point that BN moves blogs without warning, I have to agree with Claudette.

As an aside...I do not begrudge those folks whose sex blogs are in Romance.  I just don't understand why mine was moved.

Well Said Editormum

I have to say you did a great job of explaining to Claudette what most of us expect to see on this board.  And the fact that you did so without stooping to name calling is ... what's the word I'm looking for ... (Ahhh...forget it...can't think before coffee)...is just great.  You made your point respectfully, and even though I have already built up a ton of respect for you, the way you handled this has added even more respect.

I thank you for addressing this issue we all have been struggling with on the board.

I use similar strategies.

Just to give you an example of what Editormum is talking about, transplant-related issues go in the Organ Donor Awareness Week blog. Domestic violence and abuse posts go into I am here and I am not silent. Book and movie reviews tend to go into Potpourri (largely because that's what I did a lot of at Epinions.com), and I use that as a repository for general commentary (like the war on Iraq and non-abuse, non-transplant related stories). I have several other blogs that are topic-specific as well, but I believe I've made my point. I tend to be more improvisational than Editormum - the last time I did the copy-and-paste thing from MS Word, my posts looked horrible, so I decided to type my posts directly into boxes like the one I'm using right now. My point is that this is what people like us expect - topic-specific, well-organized posts with at least minimally acceptable grammar, spelling and punctuation. We don't want to read disorganized messes of blogs. Nor do we want to be personally attacked when we try to do the writer-critique thing and encourage people like Claudette to get the specialized help they might need to write well.

Editormum, well-done. Thanks.
