Bob Mathias

Bob Mathias, a former Olympic decathlete and California Congressman, died of cancer at age 75. The gold medal Mathias earned in London in 1948 was earned at Mathias' third competition. Nelly Connally

Nelly Connally died at age 87, and the death was announced yesterday (September 2, 2006) by a family friend. She was 87. Her major claim to fame was that she was the last surviving passenger in President John Kennedy's car when JFK was assassinated. Her major memory of this incident was a surreal...
