We’re back on the grid! After 8 days the electric power came back on, then internet was restored late last night. Me again. Things have been happening and, unfortunately, I have found myself slipping into the old but frustrating routine of either working or sleeping…or attempting to sleep. FROM MONDAY, MAY 2ND Yesterday it was a sun filled day with a temperature of 17C, or 62F. Beautiful! Except I spent from noon to 9 PM in a hospital waiting room, where not even a drink of water is allowed because masks are obligatory at ALL times. My youngest turned 43 today. The daddy to my Rugrats, the jack-of-all-trades who, at the moment, is working 80 hours+ a week during the rush of the tire season. Karen got home on Thursday, hauling stuff in from her car to the house through pouring rain, so was thoroughly wet when she finally came upstairs carrying a 2 litre jar of olives (one of my favorite foods) and a large brick of aged cheddar cheese (another of my favorites). I was still up when my daughter started her work day at 5 AM. We sent our good mornings by text, then chatted about the weekend get together, she sent me some photos of a renovation project she has been working on – our usual banter while most people are still sleeping or just rising. Wow – already 6 days since I last posted. Time just slipping by. I did work longer hours, and my Little Flea was here more often after my shifts, and there was supper to prepare for her daddy in the evening and the extra after meal cleanup. The list goes on.
