Is God Listening?

Pat Robertson claims he is asking God to spare us, those of us living in Hampton Roads, VA, of Hurricane Isabel. He claimed credit for doing such years ago when a hurricane missed us. I then pitied the people in that hurricane's new path. Sign in to see full entry.

Love the argument . . .

That "I'll go to church," or whatever, "just in case"! Well, with logic like that, I'd better start preparing to appease the Norse gods, "Just in Case They Exist."! Where is the logic in that? I'd better wind my watch twice a day, just in case the laws of physics change and the watch runs down twice... Sign in to see full entry.

Presumptuous Believers . . .

... feel as if because the Bible says so, it is final. Well, there are many more non-Christians, myself included, than Christians in this world and we do not accept the Bible as spiritual authority. We have our own, non-Biblical sources of religious and spiritual authority. They are as valid as the... Sign in to see full entry.

Who Sanctifies a Church?

In a comment, someone commented that a church must be sanctified. Perhaps. But who sanctifies it? Generally it is a priest or priestess who sanctifies a church, in the name of whichever deity is worshipped. Guidelines for a Church

When I was much younger, around 1968 or so, I attended a talk given by a new news anchor (I can see him in my mind's eye, but do not remember his name.) in Louisville, KY. After his talk, in which he mentioned how much a person in his profession moves around, some one in the audience asked him how... Sign in to see full entry.

Church Activities

What would one do in a non-traditional church? As for me, I relax and commune with nature and with my inner self. Sign in to see full entry.

Could it be said about Churches . . .

That a church is as much, if not more, a state of mind than a building? Even in Christian scriptiure is says something similar to, "Wherever two or three are gathered in My name, ther I too will be..." Sign in to see full entry.

Borrowing

Yes, we all borrow from each other. Isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Sign in to see full entry.

Word "Church" Kidnapped . . . .

A comment was made to this blog that the word "Church" is defined as a group of believers in Christ. I looked it up, and, truly surprising to me, the comment was correct. I did kidnap the word and I then used it in a Pagan context. Oh well. The Church (followers of Christ) borrowed so much from... Sign in to see full entry.
