Self Manicures...worthwhile, or waste?

I've spent the last hour giving myself a French manicure. I don't know why I try, really. I'm getting better, but my results are never as good as the beautiful manicure that the local salon manicurist gives. Call Me Old-Fashioned...

I wear a corset. And I don't mean one of those flimsy, see-through, satin-and-lace confections that masquerade as foundation wear.
