BN Referrals Links

Has anybody tried putting one of the BN referral logos onto a personal web page?  I'm currently redesigning my own website and want to put the link onto my home page to generate referrals, but unfortunately when I do no logo appears, despite several attempts!  A small 'period' appears on the screen which, if you hold the mouse over, does appear to be the link to BN's main home page, but it's so small nobody's ever gonna see it!!!

Can any Bloggers or anyone at BN help?  I do notice that on the referrals page, no BN logo appears to appear next to the HTML code, as one would expect.

Cheers, Mark.

Space Blogs...Too much space

My new blog seems to be running all over the place.  It takes up twice the space necessary. And twice the space of my other blogs. I didn't realize that blogs could be that wide.  Anyone know what's happening, and how to cure saif problem.  I don't care myself, but if there are any readers, it makes it difficult.

My text field isn't working, so I'm not able to post or paste anything.help

E mail Collusion Letter

I am enclosing the following e-mail.  It proves to me what I had assumed about the "favorites" rankings:  They involve collusion.  Whatever floats your boat....I don't have time right now to join this group, but if it exists some day when I'm not too busy, perhaps I'll join.

The following came to me from KURTERHARDBERGER@yahoo.com

Rules never sound good on paper. They are rules... we all  hate rules. But try to understand the potential of this piece below.

The Guild.

Please leave your ego at the door.

I have a dream. A dream of a site where there is no senseless fighting. A site where all bloggers are respected  and have equal opportunity. A site where the welcoming committee says, "Hello, welcome." not "Hi I am the boss here."

I have a dream of a site that praises good writing skills,  praises intent to learn, praises courage to try.

I have a dream of a site that discourages hate, discourages cheap tricks, discourages... oh what's that word? You know the one.

The object of The Guild is not only to promote and improve our writers, but to improve the quality of this site. The object of The Guild is to protect all blogger's rights as human beings. To spread love throughout BN. The object of The Guild is to encourage and help improve all bloggers on this site. If and when The Guild succeeds, we must always stay true to our cause. We must question our acts as a group everyday. We must never be scared to express our opinion.

Please leave your ego at the door.

To join our guild is to guarantee hits. To join our guild is to guarantee protection against unjust acts. To join our guild is to help guarantee a higher quality of reading here in the future.

Rules of The Guild:

The Guild is a Democracy. All members  have one vote on all issues. New members are eligible to vote after two weeks of joining.

All tie votes will be decided by The Guilds officials.

For a new person to join the guild a request must be placed with one of the original officials and a vote will be cast among the officials. A winning vote of 3 to 5 will result in a second vote of all eligible members within 48 hours.

A vote of 90% is needed for a member to join. (All members must keep in mind the more members there are, the more hits you receive on your blogs.)

Any Guild member can be notified for misconduct to any of the five original officials by email. The five officials will vote whether the accusations are justified. If the accusations are found to be justified, a vote will be held with all members eligible to vote. A vote of 70% against the accused will lose him his membership in The Guild.

The five original officials of The Guild can not be voted out except by unanimous vote of all the other officials. (This is because we created the group. I carefully handpicked the officials of this group for their integrity.

When voting each member will include a random word with their vote. This word will be placed next to their vote on the official guild blog, so the member can be guaranteed their vote was counted.

The person counting the votes is entrusted with the secret of what each member voted. If ever the counter reveals anyone's vote he will be ejected from the group immediately.

If an official ever leaves for whatever reason, all eligible members will cast a vote for a new official. If the original official was not ejected from the group and returns to reclaim his position he will be reinstated, but the voted in official will keep his position as an official.

All rules are subject to change upon a vote held by the officials.

Reading:

All bloggers are required to submit one blog of their choice to be read by the group on a daily basis. This blog may be changed weekly.

It is required for all members to read and comment on each of these blogs at least four times each week unless advance notice is given. If a member gives advance notice he will forfeit his blog from the list, but the blog will be put in another list as "recommended reading" A blogger planning a vacation can request for all members to notice they are reading all blogs on the list everyday to make up for the time he/she will miss. (Remember to comment on all blogs left even if it is just a . To say you were there.)

If a blogger notices a member has failed to read his blog the required amount of times he should report him to an official... and guess what? A vote. If the member who failed to read comes up with a suitable excuse (I.E. mom died) they will be excused. If not... they will be ejected from the group.

You may spend 5 minutes clicking on blogs and leaving comments if we have 15 members, but remember that 5 minutes earns your chosen blog 15 clicks. All members are strongly encouraged to actually read the blogs and leave constructive criticism on each. Constructive criticism ALWAYS includes some sort of praise. I.E. "This blog held no interest to me, however I did read your blog entitled 'Peckers in the Caribbean' and it was hilarious."
Unnecessary ridicule can be reported to the officials and a majority vote of all members will eject the person responsible for the unsuitable comment from the group. This includes officials!!! If you can't say anything good... shut up.

The Weekly Hit Man:

The weekly hit man is the man at the top of the list each week. Each member is required to click on at least three of his blogs three times a week. These blogs are of the readers choosing. Comments must be left even if the comment says nothing. (All bloggers are encouraged to encourage and praise.)

The list will be updated every Sunday. The top of the list moves to the bottom. NEWBIES WILL ALWAYS BE ADDED TO THE TOP OF THE LIST! This ensures our new members profit from our group in their first week a great deal and are encouraged to stay.

Leaving:

Any member who requests to leave the group may leave the group with no prejudice. The group will continue to be friendly and helpful towards that ex-member. Any member who leaves must go through the voting system to get back in.

This is just the beginning. I welcome improvements, and criticism. I truly believe in the above system.

Community Section

It would be more used if we could keep it open as a little window or had alerts sound when there'a activity. Is there a way to keep it open as a little window?

How about selling us a vanity macro that alerts us when our "handle" is posted as a comment, a post, or in the Community section? Say, another $1 a month?

BN, hellllooooooo!

What do you think, showcase everything you shocase now, except cut the "overall" top tens and just post the tops in each category? It will help promote ore than one or two people, spread the money and hits around, and expose more talent for perusal.

chat

Why can't us bloggers have our own chat room, besides the BN cafe?????? Lets strike till we get one! (no not really)

How do I enter a page break.

I am writing two novels on BN and I am wondering how to spread my blog over more than one page.  Each of my posts are long, several pages of manuscript, but so far they are all on one very long page.  Also is thier a limit to the length of a blog?  I would like to put the entire novels into one blog, subdivided into several pages.  How do I do that?

BN staff

I'm sure it's probably been explained before, but how do you choose which blogs get put in the 'Featured Blogs' section at the top of the home page?

Also, with regards to your previous comment to Damon Leigh, I'd like to ask that the new comments section doesn't get removed.  I understand that my one vote won't count for anything, but I'm hoping more people feel the same.

BN is successful because of its interaction value.  The majority of people here like to recieve comments, and some often complain that they don't receive enough!  Removing the new comments section would be akin to removing several limbs.  I'm not sure that BN would have the same appeal, were we writing without any feedback and other responses.

Hey, if ain't broken, then don't fix it, right?
