"Calloused Hand by Calloused Hand, Brick by Brick..."

Iowa Caucus: the day after. At school I showed the headliine from the Eastside edition to the Des Moines Register. They could not bring themselves to state that Obama had won the caucus. They simply stated (under the Huckabee Victory Banner) that Obama was on top of the Democratic field at the end... Sign in to see full entry.

Clinton Takes 3rd in Iowa

I'm down in the hood getting a soda. My niece headed back to Grandma's with three sleepy kids. My daughter went to a rally for Obama downtown at the Civic Center. Everyone is out, smiling and happy. I think we took step one of changing history tonight. Now I'm going home to bed. Those were the final... Sign in to see full entry.

Second count for viability and Obama caucus has 52. Hillary got 32. Richardson has 23. Edwards got 36.. My friend just came in from precinct four in the cafeteriam. There Obama got 45, Edwards got.34, and Clinton got 36. Sign in to see full entry.

Richardson Is Viable, Edwards Is, Clintonistas Are Pods

We are standing in the gym at Madison Elementary School. It is seven bells and we are about to start the action. When we arrived we found an actual parking space in the school. We registered to vote and I told the chairman that I'd voted GOP for the last twenty-four years. "Ah' we broke you of that... Sign in to see full entry.

ONE HOUR TO IOWA

It is five-thirty. In one hour we will be fodder for the neighborhood voters who will try to get us to switch from Obama to Hillary. HaHaHaHaHaHa! Not happening. My two daughters will cast their first ever primary election vote. Imagine - eighteen and nineteen now! My niece who is visiting from... Sign in to see full entry.

New Years On the Campaign Trail in Des Moines

CNN has a new poll out today that shows Clinton ahead by four for the Democrats, and Romney ahead of Huckabee for the GOP. But on the same day the Des Moines Register is reporting the results of the most recent Iowa Poll. Obama ahead of Clinton by half a dozen and Huck over Romney by seven! I looked... Iowa Politics Getting Pretty Rough

I honestly did not foresee writing another blog about the caucus until Thursday night -- from the caucus. However, things have heated up again around here. And, as a local Iowa boy, here's the happenings as best I know them. Romney pulled the one-two punch on Huckabee. That is, go powerful negative,... Sign in to see full entry.

Electability, Sexism, Racism in the Iowa Caucus

In his final post before caucus night, Des Moines Register Political Columnist, (whom the Beltway Boys call the 'Dean' of Iowa Politics) David Yepsin, summarized the mood of Iowa voters as looking for a winner. ----------------------- "For some caucus-goers with little loyalty to a party, it's fine... Will No One Confront the Double-Dealing Musharraf?

The death of Benazir Bhutto is having an impact on the 2008 election which will not be known until after Tsunami Tuesday. At first blush I shouldn't wonder that Rudy would enjoy a resurgence of support. Or McCain. The need for strong defense in the face of AQ's war on us is a reminder just when we... John McCain Rising Like A Phoenix Out of Arizona!

It's neck and neck here in Iowa, in both races. Obama has peaked and appears tied with Hillary. Huckabee shot past Romney by 12 points last week and has settled down to an eight point preference. I think that race has been decided in Huck's favor. Romney has lost it all now. But still no one takes... Sign in to see full entry.
