Hi Kathu, I agree it is a waste of time sending resumes "to whom it may concern". It is the same with sending out story pitches - you need to find out who to target.
Be careful when describing people about putting the kinds of details which might identify them. Job applications are meant to be confidential.
For editorial jobs, potential employers want to know that you are good, thorough, organized and able to process the work fast.
