You know I have been a reader all my life, lots of England's writers but from everywhere. I think 'The Old man and the sea" was one of my early books from the USA along with all of the Anne Books. It isn't as easy to read these days, cataracts, and I miss reading. They are getting thick but they don't remove cataracts until they are at a certain size or thickness.

I was fascinated with words I bought a massive English Dictionary it was £5 . Read How To Write Correctly. Always remember the nominative in connection to the verb. Well something like that. Of course our schooling was pretty sparce. Teachers, young girls with eyes for the Yanks and one Head Mistress I hated. I saw her thump a little gypsy boy on his back because he was possibly bewildered by being in school he never spoke a word. We shuffled down to the Air raid shelter and the old headmistress wrote my name of the large book of sins for something I was not guilty of. Happy days.

The Little House books were some of my favorites as a teenager, but as a kid, I flipped over the book Where the Wild Things Are. Today, I have a small library in my house filled with novels written by Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, and Sheryl Woods, along with a myriad of Amish, Victorian, and Western books filled with tales of life and love.

Reading was our only escape - except for the Saturday morning kid shows on radio back in the day before TV reached our little village in the Cascade Range foothills. Or we could get out in whatever weather there was and hike the hills and valleys. I spent a lot of time in the school library when I was in high school - one period a week as a volunteer helper there. I think social media is doing a wonderful job of dumbing down the world and making it a meaner place.
