Part of the base assumption that goes into belief in Judeo/Christian/Islamic religion is that there is only One real God. Therefore, when one hears a voice of revelation, one does not consider that it might be just another disembodied entity with an agenda: if there is only One, this must be it, so, whatever it says, it must be accepted as coming from God.
