in pulling us towards our most fear-based instincts, the most animal-based side of the human being. It is the temptation of surety and security--to have complete power over one's own life, in the form of plenty of resources, of comforts, of strength to have one's needs--actual and percieved--met fully. It is the opposite of trust and faith in the good will of the Universe or God or Providence--whatever name it goes by. It is a thoughtful and useful thing to consider what you yourself define as...
