Well today was a test of my thinking ability. There have been several mechanical things to go wrong here. The furnace, sad but long story of repair number 3 coming up tomorrow. Finally have an answer,

from yet another furnace repairman on call today. There was a water leak in the boiler last evening, if you remember. I cut off the furnace and went to bed. Exhausted and tired,
