How important is your undergraduate GPA to a job?

Out of curiosity, I alwayss look online to see what kinds of jobs in the media are open. I don't actually apply to any of these jobs, because I've been expressly forbidden to (book publishing in New York is, as you might figure, an extremely competitive field to get into and most people get their jobs through connections). Anyways, today I found a job ad for a field sales position in book publishing (textbooks) which is entry-level; they want people with a GPA of 3.5 or above. And people without...
