The crazy lady strikes again

I had a hard time coming up with a title for this post. Today has been a somewhat lazy day. I spent some of my time researching something called salmon poisoning in dogs; that happens when you feed a dog certain types of raw fish (salmon being but one example). Apparently, certain types of raw fish are infested with a worm which carries a bacterium (yes, Virginia, that is the proper singular form of the plural bacteria) causing this disorder. I talked to my former roommate the other day, finally. I had to use a rather arcane way of getting in touch with her, but I was able to do it. She's getting regular physical therapy at the teaching hospital. Also, it's hard for her to sneak in between-meal snacks because there is no miniature refrigerator in her hospital room, as there was when I was her roommate. After I had written my last post, I realized that I had forgotten to include some things I'd originally intended to write about. For those of you concerned that I am ignoring my own needs in the interests of being either a busybody or getting involved in the lives of others, please be advised that based on what I read of the Bible, there is a legitimate role for self-care. In earlier posts, I've discussed some of the things I noticed about my former rehab roommate. This post is, in essence, a reply to the comments I've received about those posts. I hope that I can clarify my own thinking for readers of this blog. Yes, it's true that not every reader will completely "get" my point. It's been so long since I've been able to update this blog - see my previous entry for the reasons why - that I've forgotten just what number this entry is. I tried calling my former roommate yesterday, but it sounded - based on what I heard over the phone - that the person answering her phone either dropped the receiver or hung up on me unintentionally. I haven't personally posted to this blog in a while; my husband has done so on my behalf because I had two life-threatening infections (bacterial meningitis in February, bilateral or "double" pneumonia in April) this year and spent a good deal of time in the hospital, and in rehabilitation, as a direct result of those infections. Good Day Everyone, I have the good news to report to you that Robin is doing much better this weekend. Though it was touch and go for awhile they took her off of the respirator Friday afternoon and I was surprised to get a call from her soon after.The nurse who called my said that she wanted to talk to me even though I would be there later that evening.The nurse said that she had a sly smile on her face when she asked for the phone and there I knew she was better. It's Robin's husband again; I regret to tell you all that the writer of this blog is back in the hospital.Last Friday she had trouble getting out of our living room chair so she called 911 while I was at work and they took her to the ER. I was able to see her on Friday night but an exam showed that she had double pneumonia this time.It seams to be a repeat of last winter when she was so sick then. She's been intensive care since last Saturday and on the respirator since Saturday afternoon. It's Robin's husband with another update on her condition; First off Robin wants to say hi and thank all of you for the prayers,wishes and vibes over the last month. So far she's doing pretty good though she does have some weakness on her right side. Since she's a lefty than might not be a problem but she hasn't tried to type yet so only time might tell on that. However Robin is progressing very nicely and we should know within the next two weeks when she might be home.
