Entry #214: Wherefore art thou anxiety

I wish someone would read this post and help me - I'm scared beyond belief. I need help. Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #213: Miscellaneous thoughts

This morning, I have to admit that I agree with Garfield's concerns about, shall we say, my continued good health. I haven't been out of this very messy environment for days. I am having recurrent anxiety attacks, as well as some problems with sinus pressure, and with my continued chronic cough. I wish I had someone in my life who would provide the swift kick in the pants I seem to need, but the chronic cough gets in the way sometimes. That's about it for now. Thanks for reading this far. Entry #212

This is another post for which I couldn't find a creative, attention-grabbing headline. I'm feeling quite a bit better than I did even yesterday. I finished most of my dinner, including that huge iced tea I ordered with my meal. I plan on eating well again tonight; I even felt well enough to fix myself a big bowl of oatmeal in the microwave. (Yes, you can microwave regular rolled oats! The stuff taste delicious microwaved, in my opinion.) That's about it for today. Thanks for reading this far,... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #211: I'm worried about me

Gsrfield the feline nurse has been worried about me all morning. I can't blame her - I'm worried about me too. I've been coughing up a storm, and I haven't eaten much all weekend. I just hope I get better so I don't have to take the hospital copout. That's about it for now. Thanks for reading this far. Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #210: Even more thoughts on abortion

As I said in my last post, some of the tactics used by those who call themselves pro-life are not exactly representative of a true pro-life position, to put it mildly. One of those tactics is represented by the website called Christian Gallery. I refused to link to that site because the web host, named Neal Horsley, advocates killing anyone not sharing his putatively pro-life views. For example, Horsley appears to advocate the idea that Terri Schindler Schiavo's father should have killed off her... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #209: Further thoughts

I mentioned yesterday that I am against the easy availability of abortion. In essence, one might describe me as pro-life. I am also against some of the tactics used by some people in the pro-life camp. Several years ago, I remember reading something written by a pro-lifer - or at least a putative pro-lifer - which seemed to me to extend the right to life to everyone except transplant recipients, or at least potential recipients. (I won't dignify this person by quoting the source; I don't feel... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #208: General notes on abortion

This didn't receive much media attention this year, but yesterday was the 33rd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision which essentially legalized abortion in every state, at least during the first trimester. (Many pro-life groups feel that this same decision permits women to undergo abortion throughout the entire pregnancy, on the basis that phrases referring to the health of the mother, and how said health affects abortion decisions, actually refer to her psychological health as well as her... Entry #207: Brokeback Mountain

A little over a week ago, the three of us went to see Brokeback Mountain at a local movie theater (itself situated in a not-too-far-away town with a high concentration of gays living in it). For those who have not yet heard about this movie, it's about two men who first fall in love with each other while tending a herd of sheep on - where else? - a fictional place called Brokeback Mountain. They continue their affair for years, despite the fact that they both marry women (and one of them gets... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #206

This was one of those days when I couldn't come up with a catchy title. I was reading Life According to Ariala this morning, and one of the posts in that blog really got me to thinking. To quote the title of a book I read once, I'm wondering how to live between office visits. Doctor appointments can't be my whole life. I'm wondering how to live my life more effectively. I'm also wondering what to do with the time I have between doctor appointments - like I said, how to live between office... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #205: Updates

It's a good thing I've got an appointment with an infectious-disease specialist scheduled for next week - I feel as if I'm coming down with something. My appetite has gone downhill, and I have mildly aching joints and some small nasal stuffiness. Since I have other medical appointments scheduled the same day - including an ultrasound of a suspicious uterine mass - I do plan on keeping that appointment. (My appointment in the afternoon is with a hematologist, to try and see if there are other... Sign in to see full entry.
