Read Me! Read Me! Oh, And Comment Too!

It's funny. So many of us lured to Blogit by the idea of getting paid to write. And we get here and blog a while, and we suddenly discover that we are writing, like crazy, but not getting paid much. I've earned only $82 in fourteen months....that averages out to $5.86 a month, or 20 cents a day.... Sign in to see full entry.

My First -- and Probably Last -- Live Auction

Gomedome is going to laugh himself silly at me, and probably re-think every positive thought he's ever had about me. But I find that I do the darnedest things, and if I can laugh at them, well, maybe you will too. I had never been to or participated in an auction a few years ago when the local PBS... Time for Another Math Lesson

While I would be the first to complain about the inconvenience of being unable to blog, post, search, or otherwise do anything on Blogit other than read last week's posts during the recent outage, I would be the very, very last to demand a refund for the time the site was down. There's a saying,... Sign in to see full entry.

Just for Fun, I Signed up With This Website...

and I am amazed at how addictive and suspenseful it is! The website in question is a currency tracking site called Where's George. You go to the site and sign up (free) and then enter the series number and serial number for each bill you have in your wallet. You can add a little comment about where... Sign in to see full entry.

Where Do the Holidays Belong, Anyway?

PrincessLucy has raised an interesting and controversial point in her blog Rants of a Stressed-Out Teacher, and I have a lot to say on this topic. Even as a child, both while attending public schools and private, Christian schools, I hated the ridiculous garbage surrounding all the various holidays.... Sign in to see full entry.

Kerry Is Out of Touch With the Working Classes

He's talking about an additional gas tax of 50 cents per gallon. There's an online calculator that tells you how much such a tax would cost you. I find it interesting that my car, a 1984 Olds 88, is not even listed. The closest I could get was a 1990 Olds 88. Which gets about 22 mpg to my car's 16.... Sign in to see full entry.

If He Don't Die, I Will!

The shul I work for prints a bi-monthly magazine that includes (among other things) all the donations made during the preceding eight weeks. Due to budget restraints, we print all the donations in 7-point type with four columns to a page---and we have only three to four pages to fit them in. It's a... Sign in to see full entry.

Kids Say the Darnedest Things!

So, we are watching the VeggieTale story of Esther, and the narrator says something about Esther being an ordinary person. And my seven-year-old says, "She's not ordinary!" I ask him why? And my five-year-old says, "Well, she's a lady." Then my seven-year-old says, "She's not just a lady...she's a... Sign in to see full entry.

Editormum as Miss Lonelyhearts...or Miss Angryhearts....or Something

After a comment I made recently on another blog (the "first fight" post), a blogger left the following comment for me in one of my blogs: "... me and my [boyfriend]... can't seem to stay on the track of the disagreement in the first place, and we always end up yelling at each other quickly. We never... Sign in to see full entry.

Hey, Everyone! We Gotta Help Jemmie!

Jemmie 's feeling pretty low today, as her blog entry indicates. I've got some solutions for her, but I ask that you add your own, either here or on her blog. Jemmie says she is SICK.... Of inconsiderate people: Shoot them, spit on them, find a shaman to hex them for you, ignore them---even when... Sign in to see full entry.
