I Am Boycotting My Favorites List

because it seems that every time I add someone to my list, they suddenly stop posting. Of the 15 blogs currently on my list, only 6 have been updated within the past 48 hours. Some of them haven't posted since the day I added them. About 6 weeks ago, I removed half a dozen "dead" blogs from my list;... Sign in to see full entry.

Would You Pay $200 for ONE French Fry?

Well, someone just did! The Ebay auction for "the world's longest French Fry?" started at $1 and ended at $202.50. Now there is an even longer fry up for auction (it's at $10, with almost 2 days to go), along with a " shortest fry," a graded French Fry collection, and an " invisible French Fry... Parents Should Demand Obedience

Parents today don't love their kids. Think I am wrong? Consider these facts. A researcher was studying kids' reactions to barriers and confinement. He observed children playing in a playground that was fenced in. The kids were all over the playground, playing up against the fence, climbing the... Sign in to see full entry.

I Fell Through the Ceiling From the Attic to the Hall

It made rather a mess, you know. Insulation of the prickly yellow spun fiberglas kind and of the nasty blown bits of paper kind. And some sort of brown paper sheets all stacked nicely....now coming down in bits from the hole in the ceiling. A large wedge of drywall hanging down. I was in the attic.... Policemen, Nightgowns, and Six-Year-Old Crank Callers!

Friday started early for me---early like 4 a.m. I'm sleeping soundly when I wake to my six-year-old poking me. "Mom, mom, the polar bear is back. You gotta come see it." I grumbled that there were no polar bears in Tennessee except the green and yellow ones at the zoo, so go back to bed, but then... Sign in to see full entry.

Time Keeps on Slippin', Slippin', Slippin....

What an unbelievable week! I can't believe tomorrow is Friday! It has been so busy and crazy that I have not had time to write in my blog. This is going to be a great week...my air conditioner is due to be fixed on Monday, and the people at my church are going to come and take the train table out of... Sign in to see full entry.

Harry Potter Mania Revisited

I did it. I finished the book last night at 3:04 a.m. 870 pages in less than 8 hours. I am now completely up to date on the Harry Potter saga to date. I am also incredibly sleepy. But once again, Ms. Rowling has not disappointed. This book was a real page-turner from the moment I opened the front... Sign in to see full entry.

I Look Like a Tomato, But I Had a Good Time

I took my kids to my brothers' company picnic today; it was held at a farm where they also have a lot of fun things set up for kids and families to do together. The kids' favorite thing, surprisingly, was not the pony ride or the boat ride, but a huge slide thing----one of those inflatable deals... Sign in to see full entry.

Harry Potter Mania

Ok, I admit it. I pre-ordered two copies of the latest Harry Potter book. One for me and one for my mom. I'm one of the million people who bought copies on Amazon so they could have it on their doorstep the day it came out. I'm one of those for whom the FedEx delivery guys have to get up early in... A Father's Day Tragedy in Memphis

Today, we buried two of our city's finest: firefighters who died while fighting a raging inferno. The tragedy of the whole thing is that these two men died on Father's Day, and they died trying to save the life of the man who set the fire that killed them. I don't have a lot to say about this. It is... Sign in to see full entry.
