Got a little bit closer to exchange this morning. Funds have finally cleared through the banks but we got a last minute request. We had to sign and fax back forms confirming that the general public hadn't grazed sheep on our lawn since we'd lived there and also that there were no known mining... Sign in to see full entry.

Gone with the wind
Christian had a soccer match this afternoon and, true to form, it started to pour with rain just as we got into the car. We were armed with umbrellas, woolly hats, scarves and waterproof jackets, as well as black bin liners, in anticipation of very soggy bottoms on the way home. On the way to the... Shopping therapy
After the stresses of the last week Susan and I got up at 7.00 today (a Saturday!) and travelled down to IKEA, the Swedish furniture store, at Lakeside, east of London. If you're visiting this store it's essential to get there early as the traffic builds up incredibly quickly on the M25 on Saturday... Sign in to see full entry.

"I only wanted to save £35..."
So there we were this morning, Susan and I, being able to barely concentrate on anything when our solicitor 'phoned. The exchange couldn't happen today because our buyer's buyer hadn't sent the funds through for the deposit in time! To get money to an account instantly in the UK you have to use the... East Anglia
Really enjoyed living in East Anglia today. I drove through Suffolk and up towards Norwich to visit a company called the History of Advertising Trust or HAT. They are a charity and always extremely welcoming. I first came into contact with them via work when they had a warehouse down in one of the... Sign in to see full entry.

Will you be taking the pot plants?
Thanks to everyone for their comments on Toggy's passing away. We all miss her and the house seems a lot quieter... We were plunged into another round of pre-exchange questions on our house sale yesterday. Our buyers are very keen but very cautious to the point of being afraid of breathing let alone... The last Pogle in the Wood
Before Susan and I left North London in August 1993 we got a little black and white kitten from a farm near Cheshunt, just beyond the M25. As tens of thousands of cars passed it every day, the farm had a strange tranquility about it and 'Pippin' seemed to have the same temperament. He was the last... Sign in to see full entry.

Driving in Suffolk
Ivan has been taking driving lessons since the summer and his instructor wants him to put in for his test before Christmas. He already passed his theory test. The last time I went out with him, his general road awareness wasn't good and he was still very nervous. Because of him working each... Sign in to see full entry.

Shopping in Cambridge
It's really wet and windy here today. Susan and I drove Ivan into Cambridge this morning for his Saturday job in Gap and then went shopping. We were looking for items for the new house; I think we've both finally accepted that we will be moving and hopefully our minds will be put at rest ont he... Sign in to see full entry.

Moving house
The second reason I've been away for quite a bit lately is because, in the midst of setting up a new company and preparing to move from full-time employee to consultant in January, we decided to move house. To be fair we've been planning it for a while and selling the cottage in the summer was all... Sign in to see full entry.
