I'm walking the line

The boys and I brought our duvets down from upstairs last night to watch the remaining part of 'Walk the Line - the 2005 film about the life of Johnny Cash. We'd started to watch it last Saturday night but were all so tired we adjourned, just as Johnny's life was going off the rails. Thankfully we... Sign in to see full entry.

Things are getting easier

The back pain is a little easier today and must be due to the fact that I've been resing it more, I think. I imagine the muscles are also mending and hopefully will remember that when I stand up I don't need them screaming at me! Mentally, I'm a bit uneasy for no real reason. Things at work are far... Seeing clearly

These last few days have, as many of you have kindly suggested, been really great for reflection and contemplation. The back pain is still there and I didn't feel too good this morning but itc omes and goes. I don't feel the muscles are going into spasm so often. Thanks again for all your good... I'm at rest

Had a much better night's sleep but probably because I took Ibuprofen before I settled down. I hate taking any kind of pill and do believe my body should fight pain on its own and with its own resources but the doctor said I shouldn't consider this to be a typical case. I need to take... I hadn't got the stomach for it

Thanks for your continued goodwill messages. I went to the doctor this evening and apprently I've ruptured some muscles at the back of my stomach wall which is why they keep going into spasm when I stand up etc - and are so painful! I've got to rest as much as possible and not stand up for more than... Sign in to see full entry.

Fun and games

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post. The champagne went down really well and my worries about the XBox dissloved into frustration over the X Factor which we all watch avidly in our house. I really worry that Eoghan is going to win it because of the 'fan' support he probably has. I find... Sign in to see full entry.

Sick cat but sicker XBox

Susan and I took 'Tog' our oldest cat to the vet this morning. She's been off her food for two days and also becoming very dehydrated. She's fifteen years old and was thrown over the fence of our cottage soon after we moved back to East Anglia. She was only a kitten but, despite a bad start in life,... Sign in to see full entry.

A track record

On my journey into London yesterday, I noticed something next to the track, just outside King's Cross. On the approach to the station from the north there are two tunnels and, between the two, a piece of enclosed waste ground which usually houses sleepers and old buffers (and they're just the... Everything went wrong

Everything started to go wrong when I got to work today. I'd been listening to a lovely gentle album by Tom McRae on the iPod on the way down and then a very raunchy live version of 'Gimme Some Lovin' by Traffic to wake me up fully when we pulled into King's Cross. When I got to my desk there were... Sign in to see full entry.

Positive mind, positive actions

I woke up in a far more positive frame of mind this morning and thanks for all your continuing support. The back is still sore but the pain much less acute. In fact I am still feeling sore about work but, similaalry, the pain has been much less acute today. I really felt I was taking control of my... Sign in to see full entry.
