Brighter outlook

I was awake at 6.00 this morning with work worries going around my brain. It didn't take long for this and the corresponding headaches and feeling of being permanently tired kicked in again! Having said that, I was cheered by your comments on skye08's 'inner smile' and have tried to apply it today.... Sign in to see full entry.

Inner smileI

skye08 commented on my post yesterday to say that an inner smile can work wonders in terms of turning negative thoughts into positive ones. I've been using the technique this morning and it definitely does help so thanks for the advice! Years ago, when I was a student, I shared a flat with a guy who... Sign in to see full entry.

Wake up, wake up - no, not yet!

Susan and I both had really sleepless nights last night and so consequently are exhausted today and just trying to get through the day! She returns to teaching today after the Christmas break so I know that was on her mind and she still has a blocked sinus which affects her breathing. For my part,... Sign in to see full entry.

A good day

We've had a good day today. We took Ivan into Cambridge first thing this morning for his Saturday job at GAP. Having sent him home last night because he still had a cough after his flu virus at Christmas, they determined to stand him all day in the entrance to the store while the temperature... Thank you

for all your supportive comments regarding my post about 'Charlotte's Fund' on yesterday's post. I really appreciate your support and also feel valued in a way I could never feel valued at e.g. work! I have a picture below my monitor of three little boys who were injured by a shell in the Middle... Sign in to see full entry.

Death of a family

Some of you may remember a posting from early last year when I wrote to say that a pupil from Susan's dance school had been drowned in a local river near Chatteris. Her mother - who herself suffers from Multiple Sclerosis - lost control and the car went over the riverbank and sank to the bottom.... Sign in to see full entry.

Zavvi

Back in the office today for the first time in nearly two and a half weeks. I woke at 5.30 to snow showers and (literally) freezing temperatures. Having said that, there was remarkably no problem on the train down to London. Although we've all been physically unwell over Christmas I do think it's... Sign in to see full entry.

Absolution

I watched a DVD of last year's Muse concert with Ivan yesterday and have described it here: Music and Lyrics Fenlyrics is a new blog of mine, recalling songs that have influenced me in one way or another. I know it's a cliche but music really is the best kind of diary for me and I hope this will... Sign in to see full entry.

Happy New Year

to all on Blogit and particularly those who regularly read and comment on my posts. I'm afraid our entire family - apart from middle son, Christian - has had flu, dry coughs and other cold symptoms throughout the Christmas break. We even had to get the ambulance out to Ivan on Boxing Day as he was... Sign in to see full entry.

Coughs and sneezes

Thanks for all your nice comments! I'ts been a long few days. This time last week I'd have been looking forward to precisely that - a long few days away from the pressures of the workplace. However, we never, ever truly count out blessings until something bad happens and we realise that actually... Sign in to see full entry.
