The bad weather has obviously affected many of us in the UK this week. I had a three and a half hour journey home on Wednesday evening, including a freezing (literally) journey from Stevenage to Cambridge on the top of a double decker bus. The railway lines were down having given up under the weight... Sign in to see full entry.

Physically in
Physically I'm at work in London but mentally all over the place and the place isn't where I'm sitting! The journey in was fine: a bit icy heading into Cambridge but trains were fine, though I've just heard there are major delays on the main line so my journey home may be affected. Lots of snow... A major snow event
I'm sure that a few inches of snow doesn't constitute a major snow event in many parts of the world where you may be reading this post. England, 2nd February 2009: it does. I was up at 5.15 to check on the snow and we certainly have had a fall. It's actually been snowing heavily since then and is... Sign in to see full entry.

Chilling
Well it's certainly chilling here in Cambridgeshire this evening. The weather forecasters are predicting very cold winds from the Baltic bringing a good deal (for England!) of snow with them. We've had a few flurries this afternoon but nothing much yet. However, the winds are really biting so we'll... Sign in to see full entry.

A glimpse of the future and a long look back at the past
Another manic week with the day job so far but I had an afternoon off today. I went into Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge where Ivan is taking his A Level courses. I'd only really been into the College on Open Day and when Ivan had his interviews/auditions. He's doing Music, Music... Sign in to see full entry.

Update on the week
Sorry not to have posted for a while. This week has been full of trials and challenges at work and home. Obviously the work ones matter least because they are not my problems, they belong to the organisation I work for. I'm just paid to help them solve them. At home, Christian's football team looks... Children
A day for the children this one. Susan has spent all day cooking and ironing and helping Claire with her homework project on Antarctica. I gave Ivan a lift into Cambridge for his stint at GAP, watched Christian's team play football (they lost 0-6), comforted Christian a lot and then helped Susan and... Sign in to see full entry.

Nesting
We've had a domestic kind of day today. After the busy week, we didn't wake up until around 10.30 and have then been cleaning the house from top to bottom and thinking about improvements we might one day make. Claire has dusted everything - even the cats - and Christian has been offering sage advice... Sign in to see full entry.

Bit manic
Last night we had an event at work which was very grand and had pretensions of the Oscars or Baftas in terms of red carpet treatment etc. And yes, I loathed every minute of it. Cheap and stingy amounts of champagne, few capaes and lots of small talk with small-minded people. Got home at 9.30 to... Sign in to see full entry.

Death of a possibility
Firstly, many thanks to everyone who commented yesterday. I've been smiling inwardly throughout today, even amongst the chaos and the endless rushing around of people being 'very important.' I also smiled when I woke up this morning (honest!) which definitely made a difference - even when my train... Sign in to see full entry.
