I realized that I may have forgotten to give the results of the biopsies they did during my colonoscopy and endoscopy recently. (That happened two months ago already.) It turns out I don't have celiac disease after all - it was what I'd call a rule-out diagnosis, meaning that they took the biopsy of a certain area of my small intestine just to rule out celiac disease. However, the gastroenterologist who performed the colonoscopy took out what turned out to be a precancerous polyp from my colon.... Sign in to see full entry.

Emtry #203: Friday the 13th
No, I'm not superstitious; in fact, most of the time, the significance of the date escapes me until midway through the day. It's just another date on the calendar to me. Oh, and by the way, my black cat Michael crosses my path routinely, and I haven't had a run of bad luck recently. Other than that, there isn't a whole lot going on in my life. Therefore, I'll stop this entry before I bore readers to death. Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #202
This is one of those entries for which I could not come up with a clever title. As Garfield noted in her blog this morning, I'm doing well. I took the day off from everything - including doctor appointments - yesterday, and just played sofa spud. (That's why yesterday's entry in this blog was so short, in fact - I was in a hurry to play couch potato.) Speaking of Garfield, she has been tending to my health-care needs today. She has a way of comforting people, and she also has a rather unique (or... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #201: Break out the parkas, for Hades has frozen over
One of my old nemeses has returned. I'm referring to a Baptist minister we used to live next door to. I'd tried to find him once, several years back, but had no luck. All I can say is, I'm thrilled to finally get back in touch with this man. That's about it for now. Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #200: Further updates
Garfield mentioned the results of my last blood work - the only really abnormal result was a high cholesterol level, for which I've already been prescribed Lipitor. My white-cell count essentially normalized since my ER visit on New Year's Eve. The docs also ran some clotting studies; I'd been on Coumadin for a while due to a pulmonary embolism in July, but took myself off it because I wasn't sure what to do after my original six months or so of taking it were up. (There were some other issues... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #199: Update
As Garfield reported in her blog, I have felt a bit groggy today. In fact, she was absolutely right - I had to force myself to get up this morning, or else I would have languished in bed all day, not getting anything else done. I talked to someone from my transplant surgeon's office yesterday, and this representative also left a voice mail message this morning. When I had blood drawn during my ER visit on New Year's Eve, the resulting blood work showed that my white cell count was a bit... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #198: Update
It's still hard to extend my left arm completely due to the bruise (and associated lump) on the crook of my left elbow, but if I leave it flexed, I'm OK. I'm beginning to suspect that I might need physical therapy in order to get it to move more easily. (No, typing or keyboarding is not painful for me because I can leave that left elbow bent or flexed; yes, I have an appointment set up with my doctor toward the end of the month. In fact, I have several appointments set up this month with a... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #197: Update
The elbow where the nurse drew blood is still sore and bruised up pretty badly, but otherwise, I'm doing better than I did on Saturday, when I almost passed out in the middle of a downtown Chicago store. I've been taking it easy ever since, in the belief that overexerting myself probably led to my near collapse. The rest of my life has been going smoothly. The only thing I want to do this year - the closest thing to a resolution I'll make - is to earn enough money to get out of debt this year if... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #196: Added information
I failed to mention why Garfield noted that I had bruises. I got one nasty bruise in the crook of my elbow - where you bend it - from the nurse who drew my blood for all that blood work. In addition, my backside hurts as if it had a nasty bruise, although my family reports that it looks just as it would if it weren't injured. A part of the reason why I may have bled enough for that nasty bruise is that I'm on a blood thinner because I developed a blood clot in my lungs in July - another time... Sign in to see full entry.
Entry #195: Not again, for crying out loud
Garfield merely reported in her blog that I'd nearly gone missing, and that I'd had the bruises to show for it. The truth is that I ended up in another hospital ER last night. I almost passed out at a local store; the nearest doctors can figure out is that I dropped from overexertion. All my blood work came back normal for me. Therefore, I was merely observed for a few hours - while everyone was waiting for the results of the blood work and urine tests to come back - then I was released after... Sign in to see full entry.
