Entry #155: Just a vent or rant or whatever

Last night was a rough night. I didn't get much sleep for a number of reasons, most of which have already been discussed here. I'm just frustrated that I can't seem to get through to the right people to get the information I need at the time I need it. Thanks for allowing me a small rant. Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #154: Further updates

The lung specialist seems to think my chronic lung disease is acting up, and will put me on chronic antibiotics on the off chance that I have some sort of chronic infection. Additionally, I had another lung specialist explain to me that the antibiotics serve as anti-inflammatory agents in their own way. Evidently, people with my particular lung disease are prone to frequent lung infections because gunk is capable of backing up into the lungs, making it possible for germs of all sorts to grow in... Entry #153: Update

Today, I have an appointment set up with a lung specialist. I need to talk to him about some of the symptoms I'm experiencing, most notably a daytime pattern of shortness of breath and chest discomfort. Yesterday, that discomfort became outright pain; I would have had to call 911 had I been at home rather than at the doctor's office. I also have an elevated white count, which is often a symptom of infection. Believe me, I'm going to bring the topic up at today's visit. I will also bring up our... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #153: Results

All they did at today's transplant clinic was draw blood to see what my kidney numbers and blood count looked like. They also drew blood to see what my albumin - a form of protein - was like. (A low albumin level means that you're malnourished, and can also be a cause of fluid retention in susceptible people.) I'm due to get a call from the coordinator later today with the results of the blood work. I just wonder if they'll admit me to the hospital. The plumber was by while I was at the doctor's... Entry #152: Oops, I forgot something

I have to confess that I haven't been feeling all that great lately. Every day, like clockwork, in warm weather, I get chest discomfort - not quite pain, but definitely discomfort - and some shortness of breath between 11 AM and 2 PM local time. These symptoms abate during the evening and do not return until the same time the next day. I was going to report these symptoms to my doctor today, but a minor problem called a toilet and bathtub clog got in the way. I didn't get a chance to go to the... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #151: Johnstown Flood Update

Things have settled down somewhat here. The toilet and bathtub have continued to back up but are not as bad as they were overnight. The landlord is fully aware that the toilet and bathtub are backing up badly with sewage. I've explained that we've had this problem in the past, with sewage from adjoining apartments backing up into our tub and toilet, and it's always turned out to be a clog in the pipes outside our apartment rather than a clog within the indoor plumbing. Again, if this were my... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #150: The Johnstown Flood

As Garfield said in her blog The Secret Life of Cats, it has been an interesting night around these parts. I haven't gotten a bit of sleep due to all the stress surrounding the overflow of both the toilet and the bathtub. We figure that someone else's toilet or tub is overflowing into our fixtures - our plumbing fixtures are interconnected with those of neighboring apartments - and that it isn't in our end of the plumbing system. This is one of the reasons why I want to move so desperately.... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #149: Housing

Not too long ago, I posted something about buying a house. I mentioned that our income may be too high to qualify for a house purchase through Habitat for Humanity - their maximum income level varies by household size - and that the only way for us to own a home, given our credit rating, is to find a way to raise the funds to make a purchase at fair market value. I mentioned this to a social worker at a local hospital, and I ran into a basic brick wall. In short, the only suggestion she was able... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #148: Life options and choices

I'm tired of being made to feel guilty for the life choices I have made. You see, I have secretly always wanted to go to a conservative church and worship with women who believe in taking a secondary, submissive sort of role in relation to their husbands. I have always wanted to live like that myself. However, my husband has seemingly always felt differently; he actually seems to feel that I'd be happier in a position of authority. He also felt at one time that I'd be happier out in the work... Sign in to see full entry.

Entry #147: Frustration

I'm frustrated this morning, because my family and I are not getting the answers we need to survive. I feel strongly that we are running out of options fast, and this worries me no end. Additionally, I recounted the problems I had yesterday with severe chest discomfort due to gas pain, as well as the chronic cough with which I am afflicted as a part of the lung disease I have. Last week, I had almost exactly the same symptoms and was advised by medical professionals to go to the ER and at least... Sign in to see full entry.
