Do it in reverse

Make the payments on what you want, to yourself at 0% interest (or even earning interest), and then pay cash for what you want. I know that at first glance this seems to go against the fondness shown for instant gratification but it doesn't have to. I'm not going to talk about the evils of instant... "But I can't afford it"

"Success Warrior, I understand what you're saying, I really do. I see how buying things with cash allows me to buy more and gives me more control over my life but I can't afford it. I don't have enough cash on hand." My reply might seem over-simplistic but here it is. If you can't afford to buy the... Sign in to see full entry.

Which question is more important? Which one is asked?

I think that we agree that no one in their right mind would pay 3X what something is worth right up front. No one is going to pay $20 for a value meal. What kind of value is that? But people do pay $20 for a value meal. They pay $9 for a gallon of milk. They are paying $7 a gallon for gas. Everytime... Sign in to see full entry.

Why does the bank make such a ludicrous offer?

If you came to me and asked me for 10 bucks so that you could buy dinner and I said that I would as long as you gave me a dollar a day for 30 days, would you do it? It probably depends on how hungry you are. If you went into subway and saw that your sandwich, chips, drink, and chocolate chip cookie... Sign in to see full entry.

What's the price of stress?

Medical and marital problems are probably somewhere near the top of the list. Some doctors are saying that stress causes diseases and others are saying that stress lowers the immune system so that people are more susceptible to disease. Remember we are talking about the stress that comes from a lack... Sign in to see full entry.

Stress

There is no such thing as stress free. At least not in a the real sense. I suppose it is possible to use drugs and alcohol to achieve a short-lived sense of being stress free. Sobriety brings back the reality of the situation and in many cases, more stress. Life is stressful. Life is supposed to be... Sign in to see full entry.

What are the options to not settling?

If settling kills dreams, we should definitely be looking at ways not to settle. Dreams, hope, and excitement make life so much more fulfilling to experience. If you're going to live, you might as well have fun doing it. So what options do we have at our disposal to combat settling? 1. Credit. You... Sign in to see full entry.

Let me clear up yesterday's post

I tend to run short on time on Saturday's and it showed in yesterday's hurried post. I work a long shift on Friday getting off early in the morning and I wake up when my son wakes up which usually isn't more than a few hours. I teach karate on Saturday's and then try to catch a nap if my son will... Sign in to see full entry.

Don't Settle

I had a good friend that used to say this. We talked several times about settling, from everything ranging from material goods to personal relationships. Settling is such a devious thing because it can become a habit. "Good enough is the enemy of greatness." Everytime you settle for something less... Sign in to see full entry.

"Success Warrior, your plan doesn't work."

This is what my wife told me I should prepare myself to hear. I was a little suprised. This is a sound plan. I know that it works. In fact, she's doing a research paper on personal finances this semester and she came to me a couple weeks into the class and told me that my plan was a good plan. She... Sign in to see full entry.
