How do bugs know what day it is? I’ve noticed that June bugs come out within a day or two of June 1 st each year. The cicadas (seventeen year locusts) emerge after 17 years underground all at the same time. They obviously must have calendars, and probably alarm clocks, too. Just kidding, but wildlife amazes me. Vultures arrive on April 28 th (I’m pretty sure) each year. It’s the same day that the swallows show up in Capistrano. I do know that. The radio always tells me about the swallows on the...
