Fun and games

Ed and I played golf this morning. This is the third time I've played, which means I can now put three cards in to get a new (and very high!) handicap. I enjoyed it, but still get tired towards the end of the round and start playing rubbish. Still, I suppose it'll get better in time. Then we drove... Sign in to see full entry.

The solution.

Hooray! Rejoice with me (and Ed and all the family) for Melchi (the cat) has a home! While we were waiting for the Cat Protection people to ring (they didn't) Rachel-next-door rang up. Melchi was now not only allowing her to stroke him, but even to comb him and he purred loudly while she did so. We... Sign in to see full entry.

RSPCA

Ed rang the RSPCA today and found them very helpful. They promptly put him onto the Cat Protection League (I think it was League. Might have been Association or something. But you know what I mean.) They only operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays (so woe betide your cat if it needs protecting on... Sign in to see full entry.

A blow

Just had a phone call from the couple who were going to take the rectory cat. They've cried off. Understandable, really. We haven't yet been able to catch the cat and they fear that to keep him in when he's been used to being outside all the time would be bordering on cruel. And they think that as... Mrs Beamish

For any of you who know anything about the Church of England, this is so true to life that it's hysterically funny! Enjoy! Sign in to see full entry.

Reformatting

I've been offline for a couple of days, reformatting my computer. And you know what that means! Yes, anxiety, worry, loss of data, frustration, *&^%*!, etc. However, now have a 'new' computer, all empty and shining, just like that notebook on the first day back at school. Remember? Mind you, by day... Sign in to see full entry.

Making assumptions

I confess to often making assumptions and equally often finding out that I'm wrong, so I shouldn't be surprised when folk make assumptions about me which are far from correct. When verity visited from the church on Friday, she brought with her a couple of flyers, one for an African evening to... Sign in to see full entry.

The Wedding

Visited eldest daughter and new husband (and granddaughter) today, hoping to see the wedding photos. No good. They only had half a dozen and are waiting for the bulk of the photos from their friend, after which I hope to have a CD. Still, I couldn't resist sharing these two with you. Remember, they... A visit

Rachel next door (to the Rectory) came over for the day. She'd no sooner arrived and I'd got the coffee going, when we had an unexpected visitor. It was a little old lady from our new church, who I'd briefly known around thirty years ago. We lived in the same town and attended the same church,... Sign in to see full entry.

Golf and other delights

Played my first game of golf today. Well, not my first ever game - I used to play quite a lot - but my first game for around fifteen years. Went with Ed in fear and trepidation, certain I'd duff the ball on every shot and end feeling depressed and frustrated. The pro in the shop said, "You need a... Sign in to see full entry.
