Common sense prevails

Fantastic news! Saw H. (Injustice) yesterday afternoon. She had just had a visit from the police, at which her heart dropped. She felt she simply couldn't face any more bad news. But it wasn't bad news. The officer had called personally to say that the Crown Prosecution Service have thrown out the... Sign in to see full entry.

A great sing!

Along with several members of the choir, went to the Cathedral yesterday afternoon. Once a year, the Cathedral invites all church choirs across the Diocese to participate in choral Evensong. The choirs have all the music in advance, there are three communal practices in different venues in the... Sign in to see full entry.

A wonderful wedding

Had a wonderful wedding yesterday which quite restored my faith in human nature. The bride looked stunning and was attended by a 'best woman' rather than any bridesmaids. The bride's family live in the big manor house right next door to the church, so can walk through the garden to the churchyard.... Sign in to see full entry.

Injustice

I visited H. yesterday. H. is a teacher at the local High School and also a young Mum, which is how I know her. She has two children at the local Primary School and serves as a fellow Governor of the school. About a month ago her son came home on his bike one Sunday afternoon, bruised, shocked and... Mystery solved

Ed took my car down to the garage today and they’ve just rung to say it’s fixed. So why do I feel so sceptical and think cynically to myself, ‘Huh! Oh yeah?’ It’s called lack of faith. Had a phone call yesterday from the lady whose son had so tragically died. Apparently he’d suffered from depression... Sign in to see full entry.

A mystery...

Cycled down to see Don and Jennie today. Seemed more sensible than risking the car windows. Saw two broods of ducklings with their respective mother ducks crossing the road in front of me. May even have saved a life, since one brood was being threatened by a big black crow, flapping ominously around... Sign in to see full entry.

Continuing saga

So I'm driving sedately (well, fairly sedately. On the inside lane, at any rate) down the dual carriageway towards Diss, radio singing out, windows happily opened, when suddenly the radio stops in the middle of a piece. I jab and stab as usual at the radio button, while doing my best to keep my eyes... Sign in to see full entry.

The car windows, round two

So today I had to drive into Norwich again to the Cathedral. Started out reasonably early (before the hottest part of the day anyway), tried the windows first, just to see. No dice. So I drive on, checking the windows every time I go over a bump or round a corner. Nothing. Parked under a large and... Sign in to see full entry.

A visit to the Archdeacon

The hottest day of the year so far and I had to visit the Archdeacon. Nothing wrong with that, except that for some unknown and inexplicable reason, the electric windows on my car refused to function. There I was, stabbing and jabbing like there was no tomorrow, all the while keeping my eyes firmly... Sign in to see full entry.

The first Alpha

Had our first of a very quickly cobbled together Alpha evening on Thursday. Hosted in a beautiful home and on a beautiful evening, so we started by sitting outside in the courtyard with a gin and tonic and smoked salmon. Good way to start a course, in my book. Alpha is aimed at young, non-church... Sign in to see full entry.
