Christian was very quiet when I picked him and Claire up from school this afternoon. He often bottles things up, as you know, and he is feeling quite vulnerable at the moment. For him, Primary school days must seem to be receding fast and I know he is worrying about High School and all that it... Sign in to see full entry.

Three places I like best
I suggested that I bath my daughter last night before she put her pyjamas and dressing gown on and got ready for bed. Claire is nine and she was reluctant - mainly because it was a cold day and the thought of a bath wasn't an inviting one in her world. She doesn't need me to help her but I know she... Grant me asylum from the asylum
Another day with the loonies today. My colleague and I are formulating a communications strategy which will involve more rigorous copy checking and scheduling of messages to our client base. It isn't rocket science but you'd think that some people had had rockets placed below their brains when they... Sign in to see full entry.

Entrapment
I'd been promising Claire all weekend that we'd snuggle down and watch a DVD together. I'd recently acquired a few DVDs for us to watch and so we settled for Entrapment. I hadn't seen it before but normally enjoy Sean Connery, even though some of his films in recent times have obviously been fillers... Sign in to see full entry.

Home work
The children are busily completing their homework at the moment. They keep popping in here to show me what they've done and to check certsin facts - they clearly haven't guessed yet that I just make them up if I don't know for certain. Claire is on to grid references and plotting alien shapes that... Sign in to see full entry.

Susan and I were chatting in the bath
this morning about how we may need to buy a small - table-top - copier. We were worrying about her job moving to Norwich and trying to find a way around it. It seems that if we could get a network version of the Sage accounts system we might be able to view the files over the web and she could... Sign in to see full entry.

Square One
Susan and I are back to square one on our thinking of moves/jobs/schools. After a deeply disappointing trip to Thetford this morning we're thinking we should just stay put for the time being. We're pretty confident that Christian will be able to manage the daily travel to school and back on the... Sign in to see full entry.

We're upside down
Since Christian knew he had a place starting at the Grammar School in September Susan and I have been in a real quandry about finances/travel/future plans. Christian knows he has to travel there by train - it will take about half an hour - and he and we are resigned to it. I don't know that we're... Sign in to see full entry.

Poor Trudy
I've just been out for some noodles with Trudy - a lady from work. We went to Wagamamas under Harvey Nichs, down in Knightsbridge. I had a lovely plate of noodles with shrimps and ginger and she enjoyed a rice dish with assorted vegetables. The place was packed and therefore very loud but I didn't... Sign in to see full entry.

In transit
Christian told me last night that if you take one hour to get to work and another hour to get back home again and do this every day from aged twenty two to sixty five, you would have been in transit for two and a half years altogether. I thought of this as I travelled in this morning. I do try to... Sign in to see full entry.
