Christian and I have just dropped Claire off at her best friend's house. She is looking forward to an evening of rented film and pizza and lots of girly chat - with her friend, Jodie as well as Jodie's mum. Her father lives separately from them - although the relationships are more than intact,... Sign in to see full entry.

Tired
You know when you wake up some mornings and you just cannot believe that the alarm clock is telling you the truth? Yes, today was one of those. I keep my alarm clock on the floor by the bed as the ticking is too loud if on the shelf. I keep my mobile 'phone on the shelf as it doesn't make any noise... Sign in to see full entry.

Cold but it will get warmer
I worked at home for a number of days last week and, when I came to make the journey again yesterday, hadn't realised how the days are beginning to draw out once again. It was light as I went into the bathroom at 5.30 and blues and oranges were beginning to emerge in the eastern sky as I made my way... Sign in to see full entry.

I used to live in the room next door
I've been a reading a book which is helping me to get some real focus back into my life. Today, a piece of advice was given which resonated with me. It was describing letting go of the past. Whether good things or bad things had happened, they did not belong in the present. It was OK to remember... Sign in to see full entry.

A nice day today
It's been a nice day today, partly because the wind has dropped and it has finally stopped raining. Claire's toe is improving such that she can walk on it - sideways of course - but it's a start. Christian played in a soccer match this morning and was literally everwhere. The 'pitch' was muddy and... Sign in to see full entry.

A bad toe day
I was working from home today and got a telephone call mid-morning from the local primary school. Now, this usually means that Christian has had some kind of accident. Over the course of his school years he has been to three different hospitals in the area and has his own accident sign-out book. My... Sign in to see full entry.

A meeting of minds?
I've been working from home this week but went in to London for a meeting today. I'd recently spent much of a weekend (and part of my birthday) compiling an extensive report for a new communications initiative. Although lip service was paid to it, my heightened sense of intuition suggested to me... Sign in to see full entry.

Hurdles
I took the day off work yesterday so that I could spend some time at home. Actually most of it was spent in a car or on a train. Christian had a 'taster day' at his new High School in Thetford, which he is due to go to in September. Susan took him on the morning train which would be the one he will... Claire is so alive
I've been feeling a bit blocked today - physically and mentally. I think it's largely due to working around the clock at the start of the week and getting correspondingly worked up about everything. I've been chatting away to myself and reappraising my life and my place in it and, though I got quite... Sign in to see full entry.

Treat it as a challenge
I had a particularly challenging day yesterday, partly because I’m trying to progress a communications plan where there has hitherto been no plan and bring some structure to the world. After a session on the laptop during the journey into work and the whole morning working on it flat out (i.e.... Sign in to see full entry.
