Attack of the killer mannequns

This was too funny not to share. A woman is suing JC Penney because a mannequin allegedly attacked her. The only outfit of its type and size - a size apparently shared by the plaintiff in this case - was on a mannequin. When a sales clerk attempted to take the outfit off the mannequin, the arm of this statuette "flew off" (an exact quote from the story I just read) and hit the plaintiff in the head. Oh, brother. In my opinion, this is just as bad as the lawsuit against McDonald's years ago,... Sign in to see full entry.

Christian health-care resources

I've been doing a bit of Web surfing on this topic, and I found a website of interest. The organization hosting the website is called CINAM - Christians Investigating New Age Medicine. The founders of this organization and I share the implicit opinion that scientifically-based conventional medicine is the only licit "alternative" out there for us Christians. My own experience seems to be shared by the CINAM folk. In addition, they do a creditable job of summarizing the fact that most... Sign in to see full entry.

Rabbit season - no, goose season

All right - so I shamelessly stole from Looney Tunes. But it's warranted here in Chicagoland. Evidently, the city fathers have banned restaurants' sale of dishes containing foie gras, a goose-liver or duck-liver dish formed by doing disgusting things to geese and ducks to fatten their livers, then selling said livers to restaurants which prepare same for "foodies" and gourmets. (I've seen programs which used to be on Food Network and are currently running on the Travel Channel - I forget the... Sign in to see full entry.

We now return to our regularly-scheduled hot-air blowing

Yesterday, I spent a great deal of time in this blog talking about the sexual abuse of adolescent boys by adult women. I was inspired to write about this topic because I'd seen a summary of this topic on a listing for the Oprah show - a show which was preempted by the Bush press conference. I will share further observations on this topic in I am here and I am not silent, because I know this is a form of abuse, and that blog is ultimately about abuse. Yes, I originally wrote about various forms... Sign in to see full entry.

Do you hear mental gears grinding?

My success from yesterday - the fact that I got a great number of unique page views when I talked about the abuse of adolescent boys at the hands of adult women - gave me an idea. I think I'd like, finally, to go back and post regularly to I am here and I am not silent. The topic of abuse in all its forms (child molestation included) seems to be a popular one here on Blogit, and it does deserve special attention. After all, it really is a significant social problem. You, the readers of this... Sign in to see full entry.

Musical molestation

Since my last post last night, I thought of an entire genre of popular music which was basically devoted to the glorification of sexual abuse. These popular songs in this genre were about the sexual abuse of young boys by older women, written from the perspective of the now-grown young men. Every single song I could remember romanticized this abuse, portraying the young boy's first sexual encounter as an initiation into the world of adult sexuality rather than what it really was (the molestation...
