Pat_B left an excellent, insightful comment on my last entry, including points I hadn't considered. Then, I realized that I had brought up something similar a while ago, I believe right here in this very blog. Pat made the point that in the for-profit corporate world, obvious slackers are often weeded out, and weeded out promptly.
