CARROTS IN POTATO SALAD?

OK--I'll admit it. I bought a container of potato salad at the grocery store. It was $1.99 for a whole pound. I can't make it for that. Here is the weird thing; it had big hunks of raw carrots in it. I think there were more carrots than there were potatoes. I guess I just had a hankering for potato salad. Probably because we have always made it for Labor Day. First I remember Grandma, Mom and me making it. Then it was just mom and me. Now it's just me. We use to have our assigned tasks. One... Sign in to see full entry.

MIDDLE AGED BARBIE?

I got this in and e-mail and it is just too good not to share! The Barbie Doll was introduced in 1959. She has gone through several evolutions over the past 49 years. Now, at long last there are some NEW Barbie dolls, to coincide with her aging gracefully. These are a bit more realistic... 1. Bifocals Barbie. Comes with her own set of blended-lens fashion frames in six wild colors (half-frames too)! Neck chain and large-print editions of Vogue and Martha Stewart Living. 2. Hot Flash Barbie.... DRY CLEANING THE DOG

Now don't you think for one second that I would ever take my precious Bo to a dry cleaners, where they use nasty chemicals. I'd never do that. I even have reservations about taking the curtains there. And the curtains don't even bark. They do shed a little though. No I was 'dry cleaning' Bo by brushing him. He loves it, but it seemed like I could brush him forever and not get all the loose fur out. I brush a bit and the brush would fill up with fur. So I stop and take it out of the brush and put... OLD FASHIONED ADDING MACHINE!

Here is the picture I was going to post in my last entry. If you scroll down you will see I posted it there too! I really like this adding machine. It's really neat! Thanks for dropping in. What do you think of it? Bo Woof! =^..^= thinks it makes a weird noise. Woof! from the wonder dog and from me too! Sign in to see full entry.

CALCULATORS & ADDING MACHINES!

Have you ever seen one of those old fashioned adding machines where you push down the # keys and then pull the handle? Here's a picture if you haven't It even prints each number you feed into it then when you push down the "total" button and pull the handle it prints out the total. How neat is that? It never needs to be plugged in and it never needs a battery. As far as I can tell all it needs is a roll of regular calculator paper and an old fashioned typewriter like ribbon that even reverses... SWEET POTATOES OR RE-CALLED TOMATOES?

I like sweet potatoes, and I don't know what they call tomatoes before they re-called them. Food I guess? For a while there a tomato was a paperweight, a decoration, even a place to hide your spare house key. But not food. That is unless you were very brave and willing to risk getting sick. You might have been safe eating a tomato if you grew it yourself. Now with sweet potatoes there is no such problem. That's because even if a sweet potato is somehow contaminated with E-coli or F-coli or... Sign in to see full entry.

REAL FRUIT INSIDE!

I have seen lots of packages that claim they have "Real fruit inside!" The only ones I really believe are actually fruits. Like an orange. I myself will guarantee that there is real fruit inside that orange peel! That is, unless there isn't. But when I buy something like a box of cereal or a container of yogurt and it says 'real fruit inside.' What I usually find, if I find anything close to fruit-- is a marble sized lump, maybe fruit colored, that is so hard I might break my teeth on it. At... Sign in to see full entry.

SEEDLESS WATERMELON?

Huh? When I first heard about seedless watermelons, I thought "Why?" Half of the fun of eating watermelon is seeing who could spit the seeds the farthest! Sometimes there is even an contest over who got the most seeds in their slice. My record was 84 seeds in one slice. It would have been 85. I think I swallowed one of the seeds. Darn it. So why have a seedless watermelon? What they need to invent is watermelon with different colored seeds. That would help solve the argument over who spit... Sign in to see full entry.

How to: Take the day off!

(This is an e-mail I got today-- I think I might just try this!) I'm joking at least until I figure how I can hang upside down--- > I urgently needed a few days off work, but, I knew the Boss would not allow me to take leave. I thought that maybe if I acted 'crazy,' then he would tell me to take a few days off. So, I hung upside-down on the ceiling & made funny noises. My co-worker (who's blonde) asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb, so the Boss would... Sign in to see full entry.

TURNUPS, BEETS AND RADISHES--OH MY!

Did that sound familiar? It probably should. at least the "Oh My!" part anyway. If you know where it came from, let me know. Yeah, the answer is stuck somewhere in that vast waste land that is my brain. Maybe it will come to me while I write about turnips, beets and radishes. I am thinking about turnips, beets, and radishes because they are a few of the vegetables I am growing this year. As I was watering them I got to thinking how they are very similar, yet quite different. First turnips,... Sign in to see full entry.
